WHO,
WHAT, WHERE, WHEN
The Rubicon is the name of the musical project spearheaded by Christopher Valentine, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer based in New York City. The musical and production services of The Rubicon can be hired for commercial work, but more specifically, the venture is geared towards scoring movie soundtracks. Fees are negotiable based on amount of musical material needed; budgetary considerations are also taken into account. The Rubicon will consider any and all types of film projects, from animated to real, from short film to full length feature.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF 'THE RUBICON'? The Rubicon was the river that separated the borders of Cisalpine Gaul from Roman lands. In 49 B.C., against the explicit orders of the Roman senate, Julius Caesar crossed the river, a clear act of war. Having crossed the Rubicon and subsequently conquered Gaul, Julius Caesar triumphantly returned to Rome a hero, eventually assuming the mantle of Roman emperor. Rome ceased to be a democratic republic, and the course of history was changed forever. Thus, when one "crosses the Rubicon", they are crossing a boundary which creates an irreversable situation. Why the history lesson? Accusations of pompousness notwithstanding (ha!), the creation of The Rubicon signifies a significant turning point. Additionally, the name sounds cool, which is really the best reason....right? (Right.) |
